This blog post is for all the frequent Craigslist users out there. You’re the ones that are on Craigslist at least two times a week checking to see the prices on tickets, furniture or even a new house. For you…we have advice on how to make it a whole lot easier to compare and review posts on Craigslist using JiSu.
Craigslist is a great site to sell and buy just about anything. But, it’s missing a piece of functionality that would make it easier to use. Namely, the basic ability to filter out all the other posts so you can review the handful of posts with items you are considering to purchase/look at. This functionality that is missing is similar to a shopping cart or a wish list on other online shopping sites.
That’s where JiSu, an online shopping assistant, can help. JiSu provides the ability for you to create a private shopping cart that you can use to save items across different merchant websites into a centralized location. This allows you to review and compare items you are considering from different websites in a single place.
Now, here’s the tip for all of you Craigslist users. Although the JiSu shopping cart is most beneficial when searching across multiple websites, there is nothing stopping you from saving items from a single website into your JiSu shopping cart. In essence, use JiSu as the Craigslist shopping cart / wish list functionality.
Below we have provided step-by-step instructions on how use JiSu when browsing Craigslist. This should significantly improve your ability to review and compare items that interest you on Craigslist.
How to Create a Wish List in Craigslist
1. Browse Craigslist for THAT AWESOME Item
Most of us have been on Craigslist, so you know how to search for that item you’ve been pining for. Whether it is a piece of furniture, a hard-to-find concert ticket or even a new apartment. You can scour the site and browse through different posts until you find items that interest you.
2. Activate Your JiSu Shopping Cart
When you see an item you want to consider and compare against others, click on the “JiSu” bookmarklet in your browser’s bookmarks bar. This will activate your JiSu shopping cart, which will appear in the upper right hand corner of the page. (Note: we are assuming you already have enrolled with JiSu and set up your JiSu shopping cart tool. If not, please visit the JiSu website to do so.)
3. Adding Items to a Cart
In order to save an item, you must select the JiSu cart you wish to save it in. You can select from your existing JiSu shopping carts or create a new one by clicking on the link in the bottom left corner. You can have as many shopping carts as you like so if you are looking for couches and BBQ grills, we recommend saving items to two different carts – one for couches and one for BBQ grills.
4. Include Price, Description and Notes About the Item in Your Cart
You not only have the ability to enter a price, but you can also add a description and notes about any item you wish to save to a JiSu cart. All of these fields are optional, so if you don’t have anything you wish to enter, you can keep them blank. Here are two suggestions on how to use the NOTES section:
- You can copy the text of the posting and paste into the ‘Notes’ field for easy reference.
- You can use the ‘Notes’ section to jot down helpful reminders when you review the item later (e.g., “owner willing to accept best available offer”, “the color of the couch will work well with living room carpet”)
5. Save the Item to Your JiSu Cart
6. Continue to Browse Craigslist
7. Review the Items in Your JiSu Cart
You can access your JiSu cart from the JiSu shopping cart bookmarklet or by logging into your JiSu account from the JiSu website. The JiSu cart is your private place to review and compare the items you are considering purchasing. You can edit any of the information and view and enter more notes about an item. While you are reviewing the items, if you decide you want to look for more options, simply go back to Craigslist and continue to browse and save additional items to your cart.
If you decide there is an item that interests you above all others, click on the image of the item and it will link you back to the original website site from where it was saved (in this example, Craigslist). From there, follow the normal process to contact the Seller. Please keep in mind that Craigslist postings expire on a frequent basis. If you saved an item to your JiSu cart and you cannot link back to the original page, it is very likely because the post expired.
We hope this blog post has provided some helpful hints when browsing Craigslist for those one-of-a-kind items. These hints can be used on other online shopping sites as well. We are always open to feedback, so if you find a different way to utilize the cart functionality, please let us know. Happy shopping!
